The Welsh Hearts Triple Peak Challenge
Mount Snowdon
Location: Snowdonia National Park, North
Height: 1085m / 3560ft
Walking distance: 20 km
Snowdon is the highest mountain in Wales and the highest point in the British Isles outside Scotland. It is located in Snowdonia National Park in Gwynedd, designated as a national nature reserve due to its rare flora and fauna. Snowdon boasts some of the best views in Britain and the summit can be reached by a number of well-known paths.
Cadair Idris
Location: Snowdonia National Park, South
Height: 893m / 2930ft
Walking distance: 8 – 10 km
Cadair Idris, on the outskirts of Dolgellau, lies at the southern end of the Snowdonia National Park. There are three main trails to the summit, marked by a trig point. The name of the mountain has several theories. The most well known is that Cadair Idris (the Chair of Idris) is in reference to a giant of Welsh mythology who was said to have used Llyn Cau (Cau Lake) as an enormous armchair.
Jamie, one of WAWWA’s dedicated volunteers will be
completing the Welsh Hearts Triple Peak Challenge to raise money for WAWWA The
Musical Theatre Company and Ashley’s Cause.
WAWWA The Musical Theatre Company is a local not for profit
charitable organisation that works closely with its members aged from 11 up to
boost their confidence and potential in order to help them achieve their
dreams.
Ashley’s Cause is dedicated
to a 14 years old girl who after a tragic accident has been left paralysed from
the waist down confining her to a wheelchair. A lot of work needs to be done to
adjust her home in order to make her life more comfortable. I dedicate this
challenge and any money raised for Ashley to one of WAWWA’s finest young
members Natasha Falber who sadly passed away earlier this year.
